RE: Webber Hall Fire

This morning at about 2:45am, UCPD responded to a fire at Webber Halllab room 1100. The Riverside Fire Department arrived minutes later and extinguished the fire. No one was injured and the fire damage was contained within this room. A subsequent investigation by UCR Environmental Health & Safety and State Fire Marshall indicate this was an accidental electrical fire. Except for this affect area, Physical Plant was able to re-open Webber Hall at about 12:00pm for normal use.

以上是校內警局發出的電子郵件。沒錯，我們這棟樓的某間實驗室失火了，火災僅發生在實驗室內部，而且很快地就撲滅。不過早上到校時 Physical Plant 的人員仍小心翼翼地整理火場並採證，半邊樓層好比犯罪現場般用黃線圍住，直到下午才開放。兩側大門因為要讓煙味散去而大開，但為了清理現場又得把走廊兩端的門關上，使得整個一樓出現兩頭涼裡面悶熱的情景。



為了安全，消防員把部份的電源關了，又在總開關的電箱上貼了警告標誌。 走進左手邊的男廁所，發現有一部電扇正呼呼地吹，地上有不少的灰。



發生事故的實驗室連同隔壁的暗房 (如照片) 都被封住並貼上警告標誌，燃燒的氣體有害人體。我想有一陣子洗 X 光片得到隔壁大樓去。
